Texas House District 41 Candidates

February 15, 2004

All three candidates for House District 41 were interviewed on this "Valley NewsLine with Ron Whitlock."  Jim Selman and Veronica Gonzales (both attorneys) and Roberto Gutierrez (a retired businessman, and the incumbent in the race) are all running for the Democratic primary nomination for Texas House District 41.  Their Republican challenger, Roy Ibanez, pulled out of the race citing the House Speaker Tom Craddick's pledge of support for Roberto Gutierrez, the incumbent for H.D. 41, as revealing a lack of full support from his party.  Since Ibanez was the only Republican challenger for the seat, and has pulled out of the race, the Democratic primary on March 9, 2004 will decide whether the "dean" of the Valley's representatives (Gutierrez) will keep his position, or if he will be replaced by either Veronica Gonzales or Jim Selman.
