Border Texan of the Year - 2004

Glen Roney, C.E.O. of Texas State Bank and John David Franz, the Mayor of Hidalgo, Texas joined Ron with this year's honoree of the BorderFest, Joe LaMantia of L&F Distributors (Budweiser) in McAllen, Texas.
In-the-field from Texas State Bank's main branch in McAllen, Ron discussed the award of "Border Texan of the Year", previous recipients including Tony Garza, Phil Gramm, Rick
Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Charles Butt, George W. Bush & Bob
Bullock, are now joined by Joe LaMantia for his efforts on providing to the whole community of the border area. :Joe currently is the chairman of the board of directors for STARS (South Texas Academic Rising Scholars). :Also discussed were the festivities which will accompany the presentation of the award, the "BorderFest."
On this show was also a brief clip of the Governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson with Texas State Senator Juan Hinojosa, commenting on the Texas State Senators' trip to New Mexico as well, a clip from the Mayor of Laredo, Betty Flores, inviting Valleyites to her city, and U.S. Senator John Cornyn congratulating Joe LAMantia on his award.
