Ron went "in the field" to interview some of the people involved in the rescue and recovery efforts in Progresso following the explosion last Saturday, April 10, 2004.  With certain border communities signing on to the Environmental Protection Agengy's "Sister City Agreement" within the last two years, there has opened up the opportuinities and access for there to be joint cooperation between border cities and communities in Mexico and the United States.  On this show, the Emergency Medical Services Coordinator for Weslaco (and newly elected Texas State Representative for District 39) Armando "Mando" Martinez, the fire chief for Weslaco, Arturo Avila, and Danny Ramirez, the Communications Director for Med-Care EMS, commented on the rescue and recovery efforts in Progresso as well as the determinations of what possibly caused the explosion and how well the Mexican and U.S. agencies worked together in this joint effort between our two nations.
