US-VISIT Approaches

South Texas Community College in McAllen was holding a conference on Wednesday, April 28, which addressed the Economic Impact expected to occur when US-VISIT goes into effect at the Valley's border crossings by December 31, 2004.  Steve Ahlenius, the President and C.E.O. for the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and Mario Reyna, the Dean of Business for South Texas Community College, joined Ron to discuss the conference's objective of informing concerned persons and business owners of the expected impact of the implementation of the biometric checking of every foreign visa holder at our ports (including bridges to Mexico).

Texas State Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa also called in during the middle of the show to inform the viewers of the current situation and negotioations regarding the current special legislative session on school finance reform.
