Racing For Mayor

May 09, 2004

Harlingen was the main focus of attention for this Valley NewsLine as their mayor's race rounds the last turn for the finish-line of the May 15, 2004 elections.  Rick Rodriguez, a current Harlingen City Commissioner and attorney is seeking to unseat two-time mayor Connie De La Garza, a realtor with Bahnman Realty.  Both candidates joined Ron to "face off" with each other, getting out their messages and plans for the future of Harlingen and countering each other's allegations.

The last segments of the show showcased a mayoral election between fourth graders in the "microsociety" that has been developed and utilized with amazing results at Sam Houston Elementary School .  There will be more on the microsociety of "Houstonville" in the following months of Valley NewsLine, and more will be posted on this website soon.
