US-VISIT: Job-EXIT?
September 26, 2004
On this second part to last Sunday's edition of "Valley Newsline with Ron Whitlock", we continued the discussion of US-VISIT's anticipated impact on the Valley Region, followed by the rest of the United States, upon implementation this December 31. Probable effects immediately anticipated upon implementation are much longer delays at the border and a significant drop in tourism, while long term effects anticipated are more jobs lost due to longer delays of traffic at the border, preventing the goods from reaching their destinations in reasonable time.
Joining Ron again were Dennis Nixon, Chairman of the Alliance for Security and Trade and President/C.E.O. of the International Bank of Commerce (IBC) calling for the Department of Homeland Security to postpone the planned implementation of U.S.-VISIT. Also appearing on the telecast/webcast was Gerald Schwebel, Ex. Vice-President IBC, in the program originating from Nixon's office in Laredo. Both are considered the leading general public experts on the U.S.VISIT issue and it's potential adverse economic impact if implemented as scheduled.
